Munich based Franz von Stuck was a very influencial Art Nouveau painter and designer and the great rival of the equally well known Franz von Lenbach. He started out as a graphical artist, but soon started creating his own world of myth and imagination. His villa at the Prinzregentenstrasse, Munich is now a fine Jugendstilmuseum. In recent years his work has
found many new admirers so Von Stuck seems to be back on the map of painting. He was buried at the Waldfriedhof in Munich and his wife Mary rests beside him.
